After completing her undergraduate dental training, Dr. Källtorp performed her experimental research training in the Institute of Anatomy & Cell Biology. She participated in a project focussed on early inflammatory cell recruitment and activation at chemically-modified implant surfaces in vivo. Her work was presented as a Ph.D. thesis "Protein, cell and tissue interactions with thiol functionalized gold surfaces" in 1999.
